Schoology Student Login

Students can't sign up for Schoology on their own; your school creates your account. Most students sign in through their school's Schoology address, a district portal, or the SSO Login option on the official page.

Where students sign in

Students can't create their own Schoology account. Your school creates it and decides how you sign in. Most schools use one of these four routes:

Ways students sign in to Schoology
RouteHow you'll know it's yours
Your school's Schoology addressYour teacher or school website gives a web address, often ending in .schoology.com.
A district portalYou log in to Clever, ClassLink or a district launchpad first and see a Schoology tile.
SSO Login on the official pageYou know your school's name but not its address.
QR codeYour teacher gave you a printed QR code. Mostly for young students.

Signing in through your school's Schoology address

If your school has its own Schoology address, use it. It takes you straight to your school's sign-in screen, which often uses the same account you use for school email. One school's help page explains that going to the general Schoology site makes you look up your school in a list, while the school's own address signs students in with their school Google account (Meadowbrook School help).

  1. Type your school's Schoology address into the browser's address bar, or use the link on your school's website.
  2. Sign in on the screen that appears. This might be a Google, Microsoft or district sign-in page. Use your school account.
  3. Your Schoology home page opens with your courses.

Signing in through Clever, ClassLink or a district portal

Many districts put all their learning apps behind one portal. You sign in once, then click the Schoology tile. For example, Seattle Public Schools tells students to sign in to the Clever Student Portal with Microsoft and then select Schoology (Seattle Public Schools). Fort Bend ISD lists Schoology inside its 1Link portal.

If your district uses a portal, start there every time. Going to Schoology directly may ask you to sign in again or send you in a loop.

Using SSO Login on the official page

If you don't know your school's address, use the official page:

  1. Go to app.schoology.com/login.
  2. Choose SSO Login (below the Log in button).
  3. Search for your school by name and select it.
  4. Sign in with your school account on the screen your school uses.

Don't type your school email and password into the email and password boxes on the official page unless your school told you to. School accounts that use single sign-on usually don't have a separate Schoology password.

QR code login for younger students

Some schools let young students sign in by holding a printed QR code up to the camera. According to Schoology's support documentation, schools turn this on for chosen roles and buildings, it is a separate system from single sign-on, and it is not available to teachers (Schoology Support). LAUSD, for example, gives QR codes to students in kindergarten through 2nd grade through their teachers (LAUSD).

To use it, choose Scan QR Code on the official page or the QR option in the app, allow the camera, and hold up the code. Lost the code? Ask the teacher for a new one. Treat it like a password.

Using the Schoology app

The official app is called Schoology and is published by PowerSchool Group LLC. Students usually tap Sign in through my school, search for their school, and sign in with their school account. Our app login guide walks through it.

Finding your username and password

  • Your username is usually your school email address or student ID. The format is set by your district.
  • Your teacher, school library or school help desk can tell you your username and help reset your password.
  • Some districts show students' login details in the family portal. Fort Bend ISD, for example, lists student login information in Skyward Family Access (Fort Bend ISD).
  • SchoologyLogin.com cannot look up, reset or recover any account.

Keep your password private. Don't share it with friends, and only type it on your school's sign-in page or the official Schoology page. No legitimate site needs your password to "help" you log in.

Common student login problems

  • It keeps signing in to the wrong account. A personal Google or Microsoft account is signed in on the same browser. Use a private window or sign out of the other account. How to fix it
  • "Account not found" or my password doesn't work. You may be using the email boxes instead of your school's route. Try your school's address or SSO Login.
  • I can't see one of my classes. Teachers and schools add you to courses. Ask your teacher.

More fixes are in the Schoology login help guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create my own Schoology student account?

No. Schoology is sold to schools and districts, and they create student accounts. PowerSchool ended individual Basic accounts on October 1, 2023. If you don't have an account, ask your teacher or school.

Is Schoology the same as PowerSchool?

Schoology is a PowerSchool product, but it is not the same thing as PowerSchool SIS (the student information system some districts use for official grades and attendance). Many districts use Schoology with a different student information system altogether.

Can I use Schoology at home?

Usually yes. Schoology runs in a web browser and in the official app, so you can sign in from home with the same route you use at school. Some districts limit access from personal devices, so check with your school if it doesn't work.

Why can't I join a course with an access code?

Many districts add students to courses automatically and turn off joining by code. LAUSD, for example, says its students can't join courses with an access code. Ask your teacher to add you.
